What can PSE be used for?
PSE is a carcassing, which stands for Planed Square Edge.
PSE is different from other types of carcassing, as it has been planed on all four sides. This creates perfectly smooth and even square edges.
Thanks to these properties, planed square timber is commonly used in building projects. It can be used to support a wide range of joinery tasks, such as creating sash windows, furniture, shelving and flooring.
What are the benefits of using PSE timber?
By creating a planed finish for the carcassing, a wide range of benefits are unlocked. These include:
- Precise dimensions
- Improved safety when handling (as there is far less risk of splintering)
- Complete uniformity
- Affordable material
- Boasting the same strength and durability as other carcassing timber types
